It’s important to establish a proper oral health care routine from a young age. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that a child see the dentist by age 1 or within six months after the first tooth erupts. We will help make their first visit positive and enjoyable! We want your child to enjoy getting to know our doctors and staff and be comfortable at all times.
Before their appointment, encourage your child to discuss how they feel about visiting the dentist. Guide this conversation in a positive direction, and refrain from using any words that could cause fear, such as “needle” or “drill.” Never joke with your child about the dentist hurting them, or use the threat of visiting the dentist as a punishment. Be conscious that your children will imitate your behavior and be strong for them!
If your child is anxious, rest assured that we are experienced in dealing with children with dental anxiety and will explain treatment procedures in a positive and pleasant manner to calm their anxious or negative feelings toward dentistry, and rewrite them with positive feelings.
